Virtual School – Coached Class Add-On Overview

Virtual School – Coached Class Add-On Overview

The Coached Class Add-On is an optional upgrade for students enrolled in the Premium Student Plan. It adds live, virtual Character Core classes led by a Family School coach and provides students with opportunities to collaborate and connect with other students and the coach.

  • Available for: Students enrolled in the Premium Student Plan

  • Grades: K–8

  • Best For: Students who want to connect with other students and a coach

What’s Included

The Coached Class Add-On includes:

  • Everything in the Premium Student Plan, plus:

  • Live Coached Classes in Character Core subjects

  • Subjects rotate throughout the year and include:

    • History

    • Science

    • Geography

    • Leadership

    • Art & Music or Electives

Each Character Core unit also includes a step-by-step, application-based unit project that students complete independently over time.

What’s Not Included

The Coached Class Add-On does not include:

  • Math or Language Arts coaching

  • Grading of assignments

  • End-of-year report card

  • Teacher evaluation or written feedback

Families who want grading, feedback, or academic core courses coaching should consider the Academic Suite Add-On.

How the Calendar Works with the Coached Class Add-On

Students enrolled in Coached Class follow a preset Character Core calendar provided by Family School.

  • Live classes follow the official Character Core schedule

  • Parents do not create the Character Core lesson schedule

  • Students must complete the assigned lesson before attending each live class

Official Scope & Calendar:

This shared calendar ensures all students arrive prepared for discussion and activities.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

On Coached Class days, a student typically:

  1. Completes the assigned Character or Skills Core lesson

  2. Joins the live Coached Class at the scheduled time (4 days per week)

  3. Participates in discussions, activities, and group learning

  4. Continues working on the unit project outside of class

This routine combines independent learning with live interaction and accountability.

How Students Access Coached Class

All access happens through the student account.

From the student dashboard, students will see:

  • The lesson that must be completed before class

  • A direct link to join the live Coached Class session

Parents do not join classes—students attend independently from their own accounts.

How Assignments Are Submitted

In the Coached Class Add-On:

  • Students may submit assignments within the platform

  • Assignments are not graded as part of Coached Class

  • Parents remain responsible for reviewing and grading student work

The focus of Coached Class is participation, discussion, and application—not formal assessment.

Who Should Choose This Add-On?

This add-on is a good fit if you want:

  • Live teacher-led Character Core instruction

  • Regular peer interaction

  • A structured weekly schedule for Character Core

  • Support without formal grading
