Turn on notifications

Turn on notifications

Notifications bring new chat messages, graded work and class changes to your phone or computer, even when AHS Worldwide is closed. Everything also shows up under the bell inside the app.

On an iPhone or iPad? Add AHS Worldwide to your Home Screen first: Put AHS Worldwide on your phone. Apple does not let a browser tab send notifications, only the Home Screen app.

Turn them on

Open AHS Worldwide and sign in. On an iPhone or iPad, open it from the Home Screen icon. After a moment a Get notified box appears. Tap Allow notifications, then tap Allow when your phone or browser asks. A test notification arrives straight away so you know it worked.

The Get notified box in the app. Tap Allow notifications, then tap Allow when your phone or browser asks

Do this on each phone, tablet or computer where you want notifications.

If you tapped "Not now", or the box never appeared

Tap the bell at the top of the app, then the three dots at the bottom of the list, then Notifications on this device. The same box opens, or tells you notifications are already on.

If you tapped "Don't Allow"

The app cannot ask again, so turn notifications on in your settings instead:

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → Notifications → AHS Worldwide → Allow Notifications.
  • Android: Settings → Apps → AHS Worldwide → Notifications.
  • In a browser: click the icon to the left of the address bar and allow notifications for the site.

Choose what you get

Open Account, then Notifications. Students can get there from the bell: the three dots, then Notification settings. Each kind of notification has three boxes: Bell (in the app), Push (on your phone) and Email.

  • Mute everything stops phone notifications and email, except that anything that cannot be switched off still emails and anything urgent still reaches your phone. The bell still has everything.
  • Quiet hours stop phone notifications between two times. Anything that arrives then is not sent later, but it is waiting under the bell.
  • Some cannot be switched off: payment problems, messages held for your review, school choice proof reminders, and announcements from the school (which only ever appear under the bell).
  • Send a test, next to Turn off, sends a notification to the device you are on.

Parents: the Daily family summary lists any students behind pace, past-due work and work due this week. Tick a box on its row to turn it on and choose the time. It is only sent on days when there is something to report. Your settings are your own: a student's notifications are set from the student's own account.

Chat messages

A chat notification says who wrote to you, never what they wrote. If you have no AHS Worldwide tab open at all, you may also get an email, at most one every 15 minutes. To quiet one conversation, open its menu and choose Mute.
